Merwin Building - Robert L. Merwin & Co., Frederiksted's leading mecantile firm of the twentieth century, erected this commercial building as its headquarters in 1917. Occupation of the site by other prominent businesses began in the 1760s.

Robert Lorin Merwin (1863-1921), merchant, was also the British vice-consul at Saint Croix (1887 to 1895) and then the U.S. consular agent (1901 to 1917).
