The Twin Bridges (officially called Bi-State Vietname Gold Star Bridges) are the bridges that span the Ohio River on Hwy US41.
The bridges are separate for the northbound and southbound traffic. The northbound is actually much longer in total, totalling 720 feet for the span. The southbound is only 600 feet. Both stand 100 feet above the Ohio River with the girdwork also being 100 feet above the road surface.
Despite contrary belief, the bridges are entirely in Kentucky, even the north side of the river. The common belief is that the Ohio River forms the border between the states of Kentucky and Indiana. But before the major earthquake in the area in 1812, the Ohio River was much further north than it presently flows. The border is still the same as it was in 1792 when KY became a state.
The safe parking coordinates lead you to UNDER the bridges by heading towards Ellis Park past the Toraccodero.
