This map sign stands at the carpark in Eight Mile Road at the start of many mountain bike and walking trails.
Whakarewarewa Forest is well known as a recreation area for user groups including walkers, runners, mountain bikers, horse riders, dog owners, picnickers and tramping groups. The area is a maze of tracks and forestry roads and a map is essential to find your way around. At various points there are large Map Boards, and this one, No.8 Forest Map, is situated on Eight Mile Road near the carpark beyond the Waipa Mill.
