From the Idaho Power company web site:
The Shoshone Falls Project is located on the Snake River in southern Idaho, about three miles northeast of Twin Falls.
At 212 feet high, Shoshone Falls is recognized as one of southern Idaho's most famous natural wonders. The Shoshone Falls Project is one of 17 hydropower projects that Idaho Power owns and operates on the Snake River and its tributaries.
Construction started on the project in 1906. Energy was first produced in August 1907 as part of the Greater Shoshone and Twin Falls Water Power Company. New units were added in 1909, 1921 and 1936. Idaho Power took ownership of the project in 1916.
The project has a nameplate capacity of 12,500 kilowatts and is a run-of-river facility. A run-of-river facility is a facility where the amount of water that flows in also flows out because the water is not stored in the reservoir.
