Cas Abao is a beach and luxury residential neighborhood located at the western end of the island of Curacao.
Like most beaches on the island, its terrain consists of both fine white sand intermixed with somewhat coarser sand as well as spotty patches of dead coral remains in some specific areas. With plenty of shade and gazebos throughout its 250m long stretch, Cas Abao combines a natural country setting with all the conveniences of a full service attraction, and was recently declared one of the most pristine beaches of Curacao.
Cas Abao is ideal for swimmers of all ages and its coral reefs are a paradise for snorkelers and scuba divers alike. Services on the beach itself include a bar, a restaurant, showers, toilets, a massage facility, a dive shop and kayak rentals. During peak times, a banana-boat ride is also available for a small fee. A raft for sunbathing and playing is moored not too far into the sea as well, for those who enjoy being away from the main crowds.
It takes about ten minutes to reach the beach after the main turnoff, at the end of a paved road which eventually turns into a sandy wide trail that meanders through some of the island's dry tropical countryside -- allowing for good bird watching late in the day. The beach is open daily from 8 am to 6 pm; it charges a small entrance fee, payable at the last turnoff when the road turns from a paved surface into a hard-packed dirt road.
