This AZ mark as part of the BRATTAIN series is located along Hwy 31 just a few miles south of Paisley in Klamath County, OR.

I recovered this National Geodetic Survey disk from 1984 in good condition. It is located just a few feet east of Hwy 31 along a wire fence. There is an orange carsonite witness post that aided in recovery.

The disk is stamped 'BRATTAIN NO 2' with the years '1948 and '1984' on the face. The lettering of all stamping is hard to read but distinguishable.

The NGS datasheet info from the Geocaching.com website is incorrect for recovery of this AZ mark since the previous AZ mark was destroyed and there's updated datasheet info. Also from the updated datasheet info from 1984, the culvert mentioned is now gone. The updated NGS datasheet info to recover AZ Mark (NY0832) can be found at the link below and reads:

THE AZIMUTH MARK WAS SEARCHED FOR BUT WAS NOT RECOVERED. REFERENCE MARK 3 AND AZIMUTH MARK 2 WERE ESTABLISHED AT THIS TIME.

AZIMUTH MARK NO 2 IS A STANDARD AZIMUTH MARK DISK STAMPED---BRATTAIN 1948 NO 2 1984---, SET INTO THE TOP OF A CONCRETE MONUMENT, 25 CM IN DIAMETER, THAT PROJECTS 12 CM ABOVE THE GROUND. THE MARK IS 8.3 METERS (27.2 FT) EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY 3.0 METERS (9.8 FT) SOUTHEAST OF THE EAST END OF A CULVERT, 0.35 METER (1.15 FT) WEST OF A FENCE AND 0.30 METER (0.98 FT) WEST FROM A WITNESS POST. TO REACH FROM THE POST OFFICE IN PAISLEY GO SOUTH ON HIGHWAY 31 FOR 6.2 KM (3.85 MI) TO THE MARK ON THE LEFT.
