NY0467 - USGS 'V 4' 1919 - Klamath County, OR - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this U.S. Geological survey benchmark from 1919 in good condition. It is imbedded in the SE corner of a stone abutment and next to railroad tracks that span an irrigation canal. It is listed on a topography map as 'BM 4151.1' and also has the elevation stamping of '4151.097' in addition to the designation and year stamping.

The NGS datasheet info is adequate for station recovery. My posted coordinates will place you very close to this benchmark location.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 9.9 MI N FROM KLAMATH FALLS. 9.9 MILES NORTH ALONG THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY RAILROAD FROM THE STATION AT KLAMATH FALLS, ABOUT 70 YARDS NORTH OF MILEPOLE 439 AND THE STATION SIGN AT ALGOMA, OPPOSITE U. S. HIGHWAY 97 BRIDGE, AT BRIDGE 439.04, IN THE TOP OF THE STONE BALLAST ON THE SOUTH ABUTMENT, 7.9 FEET EAST OF THE EAST RAIL OF THE EAST TRACK, 0.8 FOOT SOUTHWEST OF THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE BALLAST, AND ABOUT 2 FEET LOWER THAN THE TRACK.
