The Plaza Bakery has been in business in Castlegar for over 40 years, and moved into their present premises in 1993. They specialize in European pastries and personalized cakes for all occasions. They also carry a wide assortment of variety breads such as multi grain, whole grain, specialty breads such as Spelt, Hovis, Salt & Sugar free diet bread, 100% rye bread and 9 different rye breads.
They are Castlegar's first Gelato Bar, with "over 16 flavors to tempt your palette" and the only 'scratch' bakery in Castlegar. The bakery has been under the ownership of Fritz Furtner since 1985. There is a small lunch counter across one of the front windows - relax a spell there while munching your cinnamon knot.
