Late Baroque Church of St. Joseph (Kostel Sv. Josefa) in Slezská Ostrava, one of several Roman Catholic churches in the city, was built in 1780–1783.
The single nave church, of which co-patron is Our Lady of Carmel, was built on the site of much older church of St. George in late-Baroque style influenced also by Classicism. The church was damaged by coal mining in 1913 (ground level under church slumped ca 8 m down...) , closed and after technically unusual reiforcement by concrete wreath, steel ropes and iron skeleton (1913–1928) reopened in 1929. The church serves as parochial church of Slezská Ostrava parish.
