In the booklet 100 years of the Barry County [Southern] Baptist Association (1883-1983) by Pauline Cox, Arnhart is mentioned as early as 1921. The church has its own website.

Arnhart Baptist Church is about 3/4 mile south of the ghost town of East Purdy, which has only one building left. The church is about 2.4 miles southwest of the town of Purdy.
