This small Queen Anne Cottage is one of three built by the Simpson family on this block between 18th and Mill Creek. It is a primary contributing historic structure in the Court Street-Chemeketa Street National Historic District. It is believed that the cottage was built by Charles Simpson, son of David and Julia Simpson. It remained in the ownership of Charles Simpson's widow Alice until 1917.
