This is a well crossed border but without any amenities. There is no rest area, welcome center, or any other establishment at the border. This would be considered a "drive-by" border.
The unique thing about this crossing is that the border isn't where most would expect it to be. It is much further north than general thinking. Most see the border between the states as being the Ohio River, but at this crossing, that is NOT the case. This is nearly a mile north of the river, giving room for a gas station and the well-known horse racing track, Ellis Park, between the river and the crossing, both of which are considered in Kentucky.
There is no "official" state border sign up, only the welcome signs for each state.
