According to the 1919 Minutes of the Barry County Southern Baptist Association this church was organized in 1912.

The town, which had originally been a small settlement named Herdsville (named for the Herd family, not for kine!), became a small unincorporated town named Roller Ridge just before the Civil War. In 1880, when it was incorporated, the official name of Seligman was given to it, as a tribute to Joseph Seligman - one of the two brothers who heavily financed the railroad that had brought life to the area.
