This survey mark is the large municipal water tower located just west of the railroad tracks on the east side of Elm Avenue, about halfway between 9th and 10th Streets in Newkirk, Oklahoma.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1935 (CIA)
POINT OBSERVED UPON IS THE FINIAL OF THE SILVER MUNICIPAL WATER TANK LOCATED IN THE SOUTHEAST PORTION OF NEWKIRK, OKLAHOMA, ABOUT 75 FEET NORTH OF THE MUNICIPAL WATER AND POWER PLANTS, AND 75 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF A GROUND RESERVOIR. APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET, ERECTED IN 1927.

Tank has lettering 'NEWKIRK', image of tiger face, 'TIGERS', in vertical order, in black on northeast face of tank body. Finial has been replaced with air vent assembly approximately 18 inches tall.
