Hi-Nella is a small town, less than one-quarter square mile, but not too small to be able to celebrate the nation's bicentennial celebration back in 1976 with the planting of a tree to commemorate so sublime an event.

I stumbled upon this tree like all other neat things I discover, through Geocaching. The tree is a HUGE hard wood tree, probably oak or maple. The tree sits at the weird intersection of Hiawatha and Wykagyl Roads where the roads come in as one then split like a wishbone at the tree. There is a small granite marker (maybe a few feet across) at the foot of the tree near the curb which reads:
HI-NELLA LIBERTY TREE
APRIL 17, 1976
Take Pride in Hi-Nellas's Past
Take Part in Hi-Nella's Future
1776 ------ 1976
The tree is fully accessible to all at any hour I suppose lest there be a curfew. Parking is available in the neighborhood, curbside.
Address or General Location of Marker: 5-99 Wykagyl Rd Hi-Nella, NJ 08083
