AI2004 - BOR 'ROCKY' - Klamath County, OR - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This Bureau of Reclamation Department of the Interior benchmark from 1998 was recovered in good condition. it lies SE of West Side Rd and on top of a small hillside and south of a private road going east. There is an orange carsonite witness post that makes for easier recovery. The NGS datasheet info is adequate for station recovery and the NGS coordinates are spot on.

DESCRIBED BY US BUREAU OF RECLAMATION 1998 (DWS) THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 38.0 KM (23.60 MI) NORTHWEST OF KLAMATH FALLS, AT THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF UPPER KLAMATH LAKE NEAR THE AREA KNOWN AS ROCKY POINT. OWNERSHIP--KLAMATH COUNTY RIGHT-OF-WAY. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE INTERSECTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 140 AND WESTSIDE ROAD (IN THE ROCKY POINT AREA), GO NORTH ON WESTSIDE ROAD FOR 3.7 KM (2.30 MI) TO APPROXIMATE MILEPOST 15.5, A PAVED DRIVEWAY ON THE RIGHT AND STATION. THE STATION IS A 6 CM DIAMETER ALUMINUM DELTA VERTICAL GPS PROJECT DISK CRIMPED ONTO A 1.6 CM ALUMINUM ROD DRIVEN TO REFUSAL, ENCASED IN A 15 CM PVC PIPE SURROUNDED BY CONCRETE FLUSH WITH THE GROUND. IT IS 11.5 M (37.7 FT) EAST FROM THE CENTER OF WESTSIDE ROAD, 9.8 M (32.2 FT) SOUTH FROM THE CENTER OF THE PAVED DRIVEWAY, 0.6 M (2.0 FT) WEST FROM A FIBERGLAS WITNESS POST, AND ABOUT 1.0 M (3.3 FT) HIGHER THAN THE ROAD.
