This survey mark is the top center of the water tower located on the south side of 4th Avenue, about halfway between Main and Lincoln Streets, in Belle Plaine, Kansas.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1957 (WRH)
THE STATION IS LOCATED IN THE EAST PART OF BELLE PLAINE. THE TANK IS A METAL TANK, PAINTED SILVER, SUPPORTED BY A FOUR LEGGED STEEL STRUCTURE AND IS ABOUT 120 FEET HIGH. THE APEX OF THE ROOF WAS INTERSECTED.
The cylindrical body of the tank is now painted brown with 'BELLE PLAINE' in yellow letters inside a yellow square border on the east and west faces. The conical top is now painted yellow. The remainder of the structure remains silver.
