- 1908 - STATE BRIDGE Constructed Under an Act of the 16th General Assembly Alfred Stewart Representative Board of Construction T. W. Jaycox - State Engineer Andrew Nickson Ch. Bd. Co Comnrs Contractor - Chas. C. Sheely |
This concrete pillar with the original 1908 dedication plaque (transcribed above) was uncovered by a local resident near Sulphur Gulch. According to the interpretive text at the site, the original bridge "was built in 1908... [and] was a major arterial from Denver to Franktown... The shallow arched bridge was made of a 'new' material at a time when the turn of the century saw an explosion of concrete bridge construction, attributable in large part to one American designer - Daniel B. Luten."
The plaque is located on a pillar near the new bridge along the Sulphur Gulch Trail.
