The Southern Alberta Art Gallery fosters the work of contemporary artists who challenge boundaries, encourages broad public engagement and promotes awareness and exploration of artistic expression. Work extends to local, national and international communities.
SAAG has a permanent collection and hosts temporary exhibits. Their website contains an archive of all past exhibitions. SAAG's residency program demonstrates their commitment to fostering the work of contemporary artists, providing an opportunity for research, reflection and production. International in its scope, this program invites artists to participate in a month-long, self-directed residency at the Gushul Studio in the Crowsnest Pass. Artists are given the freedom to experiment with new ideas and mediums, flesh out old ideas or begin research on a new trajectory in their practice.
