In 1856, the Église St. Jacques was built, and it still stands to this day. Before then, a small chapel handled religious ceremonies. The very same day the church was built (May 15, 1856), the town of Saint Augustine-de-Catherine renamed herself to Embrun, after the town of Embrun in the Hautes-Alpes region of France. Residents of Embrun recently celebrated both events in the 150th celebrations, signs saying "150" can still be seen in the town this very moment.

L'église Saint-Jacques a été construite en 1856 et elle se trouve encore à cet endroit aujourd’hui. Avant cela, les cérémonies religieuses prenaient place dans une petite chapelle . La date de la construction de l'église, (15 mai 1856), la ville de Saint-Augustin-de-Catherine fut elle-même rebaptisé à Embrun, d’après la ville d'Embrun dans les Hautes-Alpes de la France.
