Monument National
Construit par l'Association Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Montréal, et inauguré le 24 juin 1893, ce centre d'activités théâtrales, politiques et éducatives a joué un rôle capital dans la promotion de la langue et de la culture françaises en Amérique du Nord. Son théâtre de quelque 1400 places fut également le haut lieu du théâtre yiddish au Canada entre 1915 et 1957. Oeuvre éclectique des architectes Perrault, Mesnard et Venne, le Monument National fut restauré en 1993, et, depuis 1971, il est occupé par l'École nationale de théâtre du Canada.

Built by l'Association Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Montréal and opened on 24 June 1893, this centre of theatre, political action and education has played a critical role in the promotion of French language and culture in North America. Its theatre, which seated over 1400, was also the centre of Yiddish performance in Canada between 1915 and 1957. An eclectic design by the firm of Perrault, Mesnard and Venne, this building was restored in 1993 and, since 1971, has been occupied by the National Theatre School of Canada. "
