This ornate post office was built in 1899 at the end of Queen Victoria's reign.

As was common during the reign of Queen Victoria the building is ornate as well as functional. It is made of stone and brickwork and has an ornate stone relief sign with the words Post Office bookended with V R (Victoria Regina, Latin for Queen Victoria).
