Victoria Bridge – 1867 & 1991 – Stalybridge, UK - Bridge Date Stones and Plaques on Waymarking.com

It was built in 1867, the 30th year of Queen Victoria’s reign, hence its name. The bridge has a central decorative central post with an ornate street standard. Underneath the light the post was cast with the date 1867, and below that is painted the town coat of arms. When the bridge was widened in 1991 a date plaque was attached to the base of the post. The base of the bridge is cast with the words "Henry Bayley Son and Co. Albion Iron Works Miles Platting". Above this the parapet is made of cast metal decorative balustrades painted white. The bridge became a Grade II English Heritage Listed Building on the 6th February 1986.
