The monument's base is of Texas marble, while the Confederate soldier at its top is made of Carrara marble. An inscription on the North face reads "OUR CONFEDERATE DEAD 1861-1865", while another inscription on the other side reads "LEST WE FORGET".

It was erected in 1910, and originally donated by the United Daughters of The Confederacy, Chapter 545 in 1909.
