Doué d'un caractère énergique et de vision, en sa qualité de directeur général, de vice-présidnet et enfin de président du chemin de fer Pacifique-canadien durant son développement initial, il a contribué grandement au succès de cette entreprise et au progrès du pays. Né a Chelsea, Illinois, le 3 février 1843. Décédé a Montréal, le 11 septembre 1915.

Dynamic and imaginative, as General Manager, Vice President, and then President of the Canadian Pacifice Railway during its formative years, he contributed much to its success and to the development of this country. Born in Chelsea, Illinois, 3rd February, 1843. Died in Montréal, 11th September, 1915.
