This benchmark is located along the Cascade Lakes Highway about a third of a mile west of the Deschutes National Forest boundary. The cap is in a square concrete monument located at the top of the cut on the south side of the highway. The U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey set this cap in 1942 and marked it W369. When the Cascade Lakes Highway was to be widened in 1981 it was thought that this benchmark would be destroyed so a new one was set about 30 feet farther south (not in NGS data base).
