De cet endroit, alors la gare Dalhousie, partit, le 28 juin 1886, le premier train transcontinental régulier. La création de ce service par la compagnie du Pacifique Canadien relia l'Est et l'Ouest du Canada, et assura l'indépendance du pays en matière de transport.
The text on the plaque reads as follows:
The first regular transcontinental train departed from this place 28th June, 1886. The inauguration of this service by the Canadian Pacific Railway linked East and West and rendered Canada independent in transportation.
