In June of 1995, Judy Messoline moved to the San Luis Valley to raise cattle on 320 acres recently purchased. She quickly began hearing stories of UFO sightings throughout the valley and thought, "What we need down here is a UFO Watchtower." In 2000, she built the
watchtower and soon attracted the attention of newspapers and curious visitors. As one article put it, "She soon discovered that her drought-plagued dairy herd would no longer be her main cash cow."

Easily spotted by billboards along the highway 2.5 miles north of Hooper, the TLC Ranch and UFO Watchtower attracts attention with a little alien pointing the way. The tower is open for viewing ($2 per person or $5 per car) but the ranch is private. A wooden sign above the entrance states "TLC Ranch; Registered Scotch Highland Cattle & Paint Horses."
