Long Description:
The current Capitol was built following a fire which destroyed the previous structure. It was started in 1906 and completed in 1917 at a cost of $7.25 million. The architect was George B. Post who won American Institute of Architects Gold Medal in 1911. The architectural style is Beaux-Arts.

The Capitol is 284' 5" tall from the ground floor to the top of the statue on the dome. It consists of 4 wings extending symmetrically from the center rotunda. It is made of 43 different types of stone with the exterior being granite
