This is the northeastern end of the trail that uses the abandoned roadbed of the Rock Island Railroad that parallels US Highway 24 northeast of Colorado Springs. This portion of the Trail is nine miles long and stretches from Peyton to Falcon. Eagle Scout Preston Martinez, with the help and assistance of numerous sponsors, has installed mileposts along this stretch of trail. The milepost shown in the photos is at the northeastern trailhead at Peyton and indicates the starting point of the trail through the "0.0" at the top of the post.
