This war memorial is located at the entrance to the port on the west side of the City of Nice, France.

Located near the entrance to the port of Nice, and very visible to all that enter the city from the east. Built into the rock, this 32 metre high monument was constructed between 1924 and 1928. The monument was built in recognition of the 4000 residents of Nice that died in the First World War.
The monument was modified to include the Second World War as well as conflicts in Indochina and Algeria.
The monument is impressive in both directions, looking at it from the roadside and standing at its steps and looking out to the sea. The monument requires multiple trips throughout its length to observe the small monuments along each side and through the middle to gain a greater appreciation of its size.

"La ville de nice a ses fils morts pour la France.
Souvenez vous des oeuvres que nos peres ont accomplies de leur temps et vous recevrez une gloire et un nom immortels."

This memorial is located along the Mediterranean coast line at the entrance to the port of Nice. The memorial was constructed into the side of the mountain.
