The text on the plaque mounted on the front of the house reads as follows:
"This house was built in 1891 by Robert Mason and continued to be occupied by his descendants until 1996. An early Hintonburg house, the building's gable roofed form and narrow front verandah with distinctive wooden trim make it a good example of the type of frame house built throughout Ontario in the latter part of the 19th century."
"Built for Robert and Maria Mason in 1891, two years before the incorporation of the Village of Hintonburg, the home remained in the same family for more than a century. When the property was sold to a developer in the late 1990s, a proposal for infill townhouses was strongly opposed by residents. This 2½-storey clapboard house with an interesting period veranda is once again in private hands."
