Owned by the City of Perth, the hall is the main venue of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, and also hosts a number of other events and performances.
It was opened on Australia Day (26 January) 1973. It has a 3,000 pipe organ. Acoustically, the venue is considered one of the best in Australia.
