The name of the pole can be translated to the Great Protruding (Being) from the Lake. It was originally carved by two chiefs - Tu'pesu and wawralaw at Gitsegukla (Skeena Crossing).
The Great Protruducing Being from the lake is wearing headgear called a Brave's Helmet that has a pole through it on which Real Kingfishers perch. Below and uncarved pportion of the pole is a hanging frog, the story is related to a chief daught who disappeared. After two years frogs appeared at the chief's doorway and took him to the lake. The lake was drained and the daughter died. The chief killed a large frog and took it as his crest. At the base of the pole Reflections in the Water a story of a woman who saw faces of children in the water and composed a song about the reflections.
