Vaguely reminiscent of the famous Conestoga Wagon, this is the type of wagon that would have been used by the North West Mounted Police when moving through the prairies and by the earliest settlers, arriving in the west prior to the railway. Its primary use, though, was in freighting goods wherever they needed to be taken. Though the coming of the railroad put many of these wagons out of work, they remained in use for some years after, serving areas where there were no nearby railroads.
