A plaque was placed in front of the 1910 Baldwin locomotive switcher engine that is on display at Mine Overlook Park on the north edge of Mountain Iron. It was placed there during the town's Centennial celebration in 1990. The plaque reads:
“In commemoration of the 1990 Centennial. This locomotive was dedicated to all the Mountain Iron area residents who have worked in the iron mines past, at present, and in the future. Saturday, July 28, 1990.” This train was used at the Mountain Iron mine until 1955.
