Unincorporated, Laporte, whose population had declined to 5 persons by 2006, is referred to as a "designated place" by Statistics Canada. Laport is now a community of mostly unpainted and abandoned buildings.

The railroad still runs through Laporte, but the sidings have been removed and no trains stop there any more.

Built in 1968 by Sask. Pool, this fairly large elevator is accompanied by a good sized annex. No longer listed as a licensed elevator by the Canadian Grain Commission, this elevator appears to now be privately owned.
Currently used as a grain elevator: no
