It would be hard to imagine a small farming town in the 1920s and 30s without at least one of these. This North Star Pump and Sign have been restored to better than new condition.
North Star Oil & Refining began operations in about 1909. They acquired the Continental Oil company and built a small refinery in Winnipeg in 1920-21. About this time Imperial acquired a majority in North Star and concealed its ownership. Prior to that, North Star also had refineries in Saskatoon and Calgary. The Winnipeg refinery, by then expanded, was still operating under the North Star name in 1950.
All the WDM museums are a gearhead's dream, with tons of cars, trucks, tractors, carriages, agricultural implements, etc. Their collections include a great many really rare ones, as well.
