The pub is on the corner of Huddersfield Road and Gooder Lane near to the railway station so would have been in a good location for travelling salesmen without their own transport.
This sign shows 3 men at a wooden table in a rough and ready wood panelled room with food on the table. One of the men is standing holding aloft a frothing jug of beer as though making a toast.
They are dressed rather strangely. The style is indeterminate but is certainly not modern.
This
local history website shows pictures of the pub and sign from the 1980s. The pub sign at the time was more appropriate showing a man with the goods he is selling being displayed in an open suit case.
