This box frame wooden building was constructed prior to 1871 at Oakland's original town site. When the railroad line was built, the town of Oakland moved adjacent to the rail line and this is one of the few remaining commercial buildings that was formerly located in the old town. The structured originally housed a cobbler shop, and shortly after, a mortuary. It is no longer in commercial use.
