The town of Bristow was established in 1898, when the St. Louis and San Francisco (Frisco) Railroad laid a track through the area. The SLSF Depot was constructed in 1923 and has been beautifully restored. It houses the Bristow Historical Museum as well as the Chamber of Commerce. It lies one block east of Route 66, between 6th and 7th Streets.

The depot is a one-story red brick building with a red-tile gabled roof. The depot is said to be haunted by a middle-aged gentleman, affectionately named "Charlie."

Members of OKPRI (visit link) came to investigate this haunting in 2006. The founder and psychic of the group, Christy Selfridge, was able to sense the resident ghost and described him as a "sullen middle-aged man with light brown hair who was wearing denim overalls and a light colored cap." She reported that the gentleman paced throughout the investigation and did not appear to be too pleased with their presence. She did report, however, that he appeared to just be guarding the depot and was not a fearful apparition.

Christy Selfridge said she also picked up indications of two separate incidents in the past, of couples arguing. One was a man who was leaving a woman and she was begging him to stay. The other was a man who was angry and his wife was trying to settle him down.

The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Come visit and learn of the history of this Territorial town...and perhaps Charlie will make an appearance...
Public access?:
Grounds are available 24/7, however, the depot is only open from 10am to 3pm Monday through Friday.
