The siege gun sits outside the National Army Museum next to Royal Hospital Road in Chelsea, London.
The plaque, adjacent to the gun, reads:
"24 Pounder Blomefeld Patter siege gun, 1800
The Blomefeld gun was regarded as the most efficient weapon to penetrate fortifications
during the Peninsular War (1804-14). Its round shot could penetrate 12 feet (3.6 metres)
of rammed earth.
Named after the Inspector of Artillery Major-General Sir Blomefeld (1744-1822), the gun
remained in service until the advent of the breech-loading artillery in the 1860s.
