The Chateau was rebuilt from a Gothic fortress. The Countess Anna Camilla from Enkefurt started construction of the new Baroque chateau in 1677. The chateau was completed by Michael Oswald of Thun. In the years 1755 - 1759, during the reign of John Michael Althan, there was important rococo style reconstruction. Its author was probably a Prague architect Ignatius Johann Nepomuk Palliardi. The architectural development of the castle was ended partial Classical reconstruction in 1847.

Next to chateau buildings are baroque buildings of the brewery and loosely designed park with an area about 10 ha. There was a French baroque garden on the site of park formerly. A remnants of the garden are still visible in the immediate vicinity of the castle.

At present the castle is used by the Department of Social Welfare.
