Strážnice is a town in Hodonín District, South Moravian Region, Czech Republic.
City gate called Skalická with Veselská gate at the opposite end of town are remnants of the once strong fortifications, built due to an increased risk of Turkish in the 16th century.
The city was fortified by walls with a moat, through which to run a drawbridge. The gate was torn down for traffic reasons in 1976 and remained only side bastions with loopholes.
Both picture were taken from the place located just about 50 meters west from the gate.
