A monument placed on the 201st anniversary of the founding of the Marine Corps honors all U.S. Marines. A 4' high by 3.5' wide by 8" thick granite stele is set parallel to Broad Street. Both sided are identical. The upper part of the monument has a bas-relief carving of the Marine Corps globe and anchor emblem superimposed over a lighter recessed semicircle. Below the emblem is the inscription:

SILVER CITY DETACHMENT
MARINE CORPS LEAGUE
OF MERIDEN IN THE YEAR
1976 TO HONOR ALL
U.S. MARINES ON THE

On the north side of the monument and flush with the ground is a granite tablet which is inscribed within a square box:

Description of Memorial:
The monument is unusal since it is a two-sided monument which is identical on both sides. It is visible from both sides median divide. There are a number of other interesting monuments along the median.
