This is a copy of a pole from the abandoned village of Tanoo, Queen Charlotte Islands. This type was hollowed out at the top to hold the grave box of a dead chief, and was decorated with his principle crests. On top is the Eagle. On the flat board covering the grave box is the Mountain Hawk, and below that on the pole are the Whale and the Beaver. "
