Edersee/Edertalsperre is an artificial lake. It was build just before the first worldwar. The main reason was to store water for secure the shipping on the upper river Weser.
Three small villages where drowned in the lake, about 900 people were moved, their houses build down and newly errected some houndred meters away on a higher level. The sunken bridge of Asel is the last remain of the small village Asel which was flooded when the lake was build after errecting of the concrete dam between 1908 and 1914.
Best time to visit the sunken bridge is in summer or autum. When the lake lost most of it's water. You can park nearby. There is also a camping site in Asel Süd, which is the village which were the citizens of Asel moved to.
I personlly have no picture of the bridge when it is sunken, but you may get an impression by viewing this link: (
