According to the 1919 Minutes of the Barry County Southern Baptist Association, this church was organized in 1869 along the Trail of Tears and Old Wire Road. It is still active today. It was initially called a Unified Baptist Church. But when the Southern Baptist Association of Barry County formed in the later 1880s, the church became affiliated with the Southern Baptists.
Enjoy your visit here. While you're at it, visit the small Rock Springs Cemetery just down the road. Since the Missouri Department of Transportation decided to take MO-37 east of the Old Wire Road to go through Seligman (which the Old Wire Road didn't go through), it has preserved the "out-of-the-way" nature of this part of The Road. You may wish to follow it down to where it climbs onto Missouri Secondary State Route DD west of Seligman, and all the way down to the state border, or beyond.
