Swami's got its nickname because of its proximity to the Self-Realization Fellowship and its yogi founder. It sits at the base of a cliff over 100 feet tall and is accessed by a stairway of 141 steps. It has been immortalized as one of the beaches named in the Beach Boys classic "Surfin' USA".
