Though this data logger isn't quite in the middle of nowhere, you can almost see it from there.

Given that this data logger is somewhat isolated, a small solar panel is used to power it. The non tracking, south facing panel is about 1 1/2 square feet in size, which suggests that the electronics are reasonably efficient, using little electricity.

Now don't ask me what data it is logging or who is using the data as I have no idea whatsoever. There are no obvious atmoshperic sensors and, though it is close to the Columbia River, it is also very unlikely that a water monitor of any sort would have been placed just at this location.
